Current work
Piling
Piling work began in December 2025 and involves the installation of foundation piles, which are essential for the new terminal building and wharf structure. The majority of piling will be complete in 2027, however the final piles need to be installed during the dry dock period in early 2028. There will be a total of over 320 piles required for this project. All work will be performed within the site perimeter.
Expected impacts:
- Elevated noise, vibration and construction activity during piling work
Mitigation measures:
- Noise monitoring: Continuous noise monitoring at key locations to ensure compliance with permissible limits
- Perimeter noise barriers: Installation of noise barriers along the south and east site perimeter fencing to reduce sound transmission to surrounding areas
- Regular maintenance of piling equipment to minimize unnecessary noise from machinery
- Vibration monitoring: Continuous vibration monitoring on site and at surrounding locations to ensure work stays within safe limits
